In true love the smallest distance is too great, and the greatest distance can be bridged. ~Hans Nouwens

broken
the door closed as soon as you walked through it to the other side
what you did to me cannot be unchanged
but I have changed
the life that you chose made my life one that would never be the same
what you did to me left me broken
but I have survived
the pieces that I picked up were not easily put back together
what you did to me kept me running
but I have doubted
the hole in my heart that you made wasn’t going to let anybody in
what you did to me came easily
but I have forgiven
the abandonment is my question how could you have left
what you did to me left me unexpected
but I have stayed
the struggles I faced alone were never too late to be alright
what you did to me left me alive
but I have lived
the air that I breathe lets me look up and see for the first time
what you did to me opened my eyes
but I have hurt
the pain that you made me feel made me a stronger woman today
what you did to me shaped my form
